Sarah M. (Quarles) Holloway, 86, of West Plains, MO, died peacefully February 6, 2026, surrounded by love. Sarah was born on August 12, 1939 in Gholson, Mississippi, to Leroy and Lena White. She is survived by her five children, James Dean Quarles and wife Eva, Lisa Schiffleger, Jeffrey Quarles, Wendy Quarles, Kelly Schick and husband Brian. seven grandchildren, Rachel Kitzmiller and husband Ben, Abi Washburn and husband Damien, Aaron Quarles, Ian Schiffleger, Andrew Schiffleger and wife Jackie, Keegan Schick and Obie Schick. three great-grandchildren, Isabel, Dorothy and Violet Kitzmiller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Lena White, her first husband of 40 years, James W. Quarles, and second husband of 27 years, Keith Holloway, as well as many siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. Sarah was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 12, 1967 in South Bend, Indiana. Her faith was her anchor. She was never missing from the meetings at the Kingdom Hall, even if she had to be there virtually. She loved sharing her hope for the future with anyone she could. She raised all her children to have the same Scriptural basis for their faith, and this was her prized accomplishment in life. She also helped many others over the years who became her spiritual children and grandchildren. Her most used names were Mom, Grandma, Grams, Granny and Friend. She would absolutely beam with joy when young ones came through her door. And her door was always open! She loved when her friends would drop by, and especially so, when groups of kids would pop in just to say hi. It didn’t matter if she knew them yet or not, they were all her kids. And she lived for the hugs everyone would bring. She was a special lady. She took on any challenge life threw her way and kept moving forward. Many times, defying the odds of whatever she was told. Her faith, fierce determination and love is what helped her to be the amazing Mom, Grandma, Grams and Granny she was. She will forever be known for her fried chicken and biscuits. There was none like hers. She also had a love for plants that was passed down to her children. Rooms full of plants were a must. And as she got older, she loved her flowers. Her kids would always say that she could put a stick in the ground, and it would grow. She also enjoyed watching the birds that would visit her yard and could name them all. One thing she especially loved, was watching the beautiful sunsets from her back deck. Each one was different, and she had pictures to prove it. Sarah left a legacy that has stretched farther than she ever realized and will continue forever. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 2:00 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, West Plains, Missouri. Always Faithful Memorial Services, West Plains, Mo.
