Danny S. Basham Sr.

Danny Sylvester Basham, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, left this world on August 14, 2025, at the age of 78 at his home in Winona, Missouri. Danny was born on April 1, 1947, in Bend Oregon to Jack and Betha (Huddleston) Basham. Danny proudly started serving his country. In 1964, he completed his automotive maintenance helper course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, then went on to complete basic training in Fort Knox Kentucky. Danny served as a tank mechanic in Germany during the Vietnam War. He completed his service in 1966 at the age of 19. Danny was blessed with four kids, Danny Scott, Sonja, Rondal, and Charles “Luke”. He had a lifelong love for trucking, hot rods, and racing. Danny was particularly fond of the 55 Chevy. He found joy in the roar of an engine and the thrill of the open road. His knowledge of cars was matched only by his skill as a mechanic, a trade which he honored. Over the years Danny provided for his family by working as a logger, truck driver, and mechanic. He enjoyed working in the log woods with his boys, and spending time with his only girl “Sis”. Danny's hands were always busy, whether he was repairing a vehicle or crafting memories with his loved ones. Family was the cornerstone of Danny's life. He cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and the importance of following one's passions. His laughter and warmth will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Danny is survived by his children Danny Scott (Karen) Basham, Sonja (Brock) Vermillion (from a previous union with Carol Pelliccio), his life partner Sandra Kile and son Rondal (Melissa) Kile, and daughter-in-law Andrea. His Grandchildren Steve (Delhia) Voyles, Brandon (Sara) Voyles, Olivia (Waylon) Tuttle, Caitlyn (Danny) Woods, Chaise (Rikki) Vermillion, Blake Kile, Danny Ann Kile, Jemma Kile, Brileigh Kile, Nickolas Iler, Addison McNabb, his heart nieces, Michaela (Cameron) Ward and Caillie (Aiden) Kile as well as his only sister Phillis Baker. Danny also leaves to mourn many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Danny is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Bertha Basham, his son Charles “Luke” Kile, his brothers Jack, Truman, Ron, and Jerry Basham, his heart niece Caitlin Kile, and many other loved ones. As we celebrate his life, we remember a man who was not only a veteran and a skilled tradesman but also a devoted family man whose legacy will continue to live on in those he loved. In honor of Danny's life, a memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined. The family will announce it and it will be updated on the website and Facebook. Rest in peace, Danny.
